The ground was getting warmer because the sun’s rays hit it hard. As we hiked along the Kycklingleden trail, a nice breeze blew through the area. You have to drive there from Karlstad, even though it’s not too far away. The name “Kycklingleden” means “The chicken trail,” and more than 34 rare species live in the area. It was named after a place there called Chicken Dale. As soon as our trip was over, I felt a wave of happiness. Just being outside makes me happy all the time. Also, it’s nice to get outside after being stuck inside all winter. Read this article if you want to know more about hiking in Sweden and how people live there. Kycklingleden Trail

How to Get There

Since there is no public transportation, the only way to get to this beautiful trail is by car. From Karlstad, take the E18 all the way to Oslo/E45. Take the Liljedalsmotet exit and merge onto E18. Look for signs that say Liljedal/Eds. Get Nya Vagen to the path. You can find a place to park by following the signs that say Kycklingleden. If there are no more spots, you can park on the street.

Be Considerate to Nature

You should try to stay on the path and not hurt Mother Nature as you walk along the trail. You can only have fires in certain places, and if there’s a fire ban, you can’t have any. A fire in 2004 did a lot of damage and left its mark on the area. Forest fires haven’t been this big in over 50 years. There were flames for 2 km. Take your trash with you, and don’t cut bark or branches off of trees that are still alive. In trees that were cut down, people have made sculptures out of wood. So, they took the stumps and used them to make art that they left along the trail.

The Beginning of the Trail

I thought the trail looked nice as we started our hike near Buda Badplats. We saw a staircase with a big sign that said “Kycklingleden” waiting for us. Things were getting really exciting for me! I’ve been inside or going for walks around the neighborhood the last few days. It’s now time to really go into the forest. We quickly went down the path and found sculptures made of wood. It looked like a huge head made of wood! More sculptures showed up as we walked further down the trail. I thought that one looked really cool. A man with a long beard turns into a root. The way his hair and beard are shaped makes it look like they could blow in the wind.

At the top of the trail, you can see the lake. From there, you can see the lake a long way off and enjoy walking around in the beautiful forest. You will also get to see the area that was destroyed by a big forest fire in 2004.

Steep Areas on Kycklingleden Trail

When we got to a block of stone, I was shocked. A hole was drilled and a latch was added so that a rope could be hung from it. Since you had to walk up the smooth stone, the path got really steep. However, it is possible! I fixed it, and my stress went away. I wasn’t sure I could do it, but I did it! There was no pain in my 24-liter backpack yet because I had weights in it for training. On this trip, we used the time to train. In June, we’ll be going to Kebnekaise! The Swedish mountain in question is very high, so we need to be in great shape to climb it!

Steep with a rope

At a few points along the trail, there were ropes to help you climb because it got steep. Since the sun made the day so much better, a lot of other people roamed the trail with us. The trail had some bridges that people built, which were very helpful when it rained. When we got close to the top, the leaves made every step I took sound like it was being crushed. We stopped and drank warm tea that my husband made with the things he brought from camping. As soon as you step outside, the air feels better. I let out a deep sigh of relief as I felt blessed with peace.

Beautiful Viewpoint

In the distance, you could see the lake. This is a beautiful spot to watch the sun go down. They have a wooden area to rest with a picnic table and a fire pit. While you were eating, you could enjoy this view and think about how beautiful nature is. If you’re in the Karlstad area, you should take this trail. It takes about two hours to finish.
