Are you considering a trip to Costa Rica? If so, how exciting! The country has so much to offer.
Whether you are looking for a warm places to visit in December or somewhere to go off the beaten track and explore nature in its best way, Costa Rica is the best spot. There, you’ll find a town called Tamarindo, which is famous for its beautiful beaches.
About Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Tamarindo is known for being a popular spot for its’ beaches and nightlife. But besides that, this small beach town is at a different pace. The locals are living in the now and relaxing with what they have. If you want some yummy cheap food, then street food is where it’s at! I’ve loved venturing and trying out street food in many of the countries that I’ve visited. It gives you a taste of their culture along with some delicious food! Wandering in the town during morning is the time to see many exercising on the beach or jogging around. The morning time is exercise time here. Something that I appreciate is that local produce is pretty cheap. Since this is the case, Tamarindo is trying to help steer people into making more healthier choices.
Explore the Waters and the Fish
If you are interested activities in Tamarindo, then I suggest going fishing. You might be interested in Tamarindo fishing charters in the local area. There, you’ll be amazed at the species of fish you’ll see. You can sit back and relax to see what you can spot, or you could get try out fishing. It’s a highly rewarding activity and it’ll allow you to explore the seas like a local. Plus, you’ll get to try out some fish that you catch as long as they’re the kind you can eat.
Surfs Up!
Another one of the best things to do in Tamarindo is surfing. The town is famous for it. Feel the sun pelt down on you while you get on your board and ride the wave! Practice your surfing skills down at Tamarindo’s amazing local beach breaks, for beginners or experienced surfers, it’s a must have experience. That’s why this is one of the best activities in Tamarindo. Let the friendly local surf instructors help improve your surfing. Or Tamarindo also has some of the best breaks for experienced surfers too.
Beach relaxation
Unwind and adopt the local pura vida mindset in Tamarindo’s tropical shores. Settle on the pure golden sands of Tamarindo Beach, admire rocks and tide pools by Playa Langosta, or retreat to the serene and nearly empty Playa Grande – the opportunities for a quiet beach retreat are endless. This will help you sink into their culture of taking it slow and easy! This makes this one of the best activities in Tamarindo.
Wildlife watching
Embark on an eco-adventure to explore Tamarindo’s rich biodiversity and discover its fascinating wildlife. Take a guided nature walk through the lush mangrove forests of Las Baulas National Marine Park and share a home with the different tree species. You will be amazed by the number of bird species happily co-habiting in their natural environment and with a little luck, you might even be able to see the nesting sea turtles. Plus, there’s whale watching certain times of the year! Personally, wildlife explorations is one of my favorites activities in Tamarindo.
Zip Lining and Canopy Tours
Get ready for an adrenaline-packed adventure out in the lush tropics of Tamarindo. Soar through the skies high above the treetops, where you will get an aerial view like you have never seen before of the tropical rainforests, wildlife, coastline, and forest. Want something that pushes you over the edge? Be prepared to take the adventure of a lifetime by zip lining.
This consists of the individual being strapped into a harness that’s attached to a long steel cable where the pulley moves by gravity, and everyone gets to see the green, luscious jungle in quick glances. This is something that I thoroughly enjoy taking on. You get a whole other perspective on the world. Plus, if you’re like me, then overcoming your fears is a passion of yours. I’m scared of heights. But when I get the chance, I take on that fear and do it anyway!
Sailing and snorkeling in the Pacific
No trip to Tamarindo would be complete without exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. Take a break from your beachside relaxation and set sail on a day-long snorkeling expedition from Tamarindo. Cruise along the picturesque coastline on an authentic sailboat or catamaran, making stops at snug bays and ideal snorkeling sites. It’s yet another way to get a different perspective of this magical place. Plus, this is one of the most popular activities in Tamarindo.
More Eco-Friendly Options
Some of my favorite places to visit are the parks and Las Baulas National Marine Park doesn’t disappoint. Here you’ll see a mangrove-lined estuary of Tamarindo Wildlife Refuge. This is where howler monkeys and crocodiles are protected. Venture here to help give back to the society and help the wildlife.
Travel Insurance
Now, no matter where you travel out of the country, it’s always best to have travel insurance and my go to is Safety Wing. The reason this is the case is because this company was created for digital nomads for digital nomads. Plus, one adult policy extends to two kids under 10 years old! Meaning your little rambunctious kids get to be protected as well!
