Sweden’s outdoors have a lot of unique experiences for both thrill seekers and nature lovers. Swedes have some of the most beautiful landscapes and culture sites in the world. Exploring the outdoors there is like no other trip. If you want to get the most out of your trip to Scandinavia, read this guide. It will tell you what you must do when you go outside in Sweden. I’ve always liked getting outside and doing things like hiking, kayaking, and camping.

Embrace the Midnight Sun

Seeing the midnight sun in Sweden is one of the strangest things that can happen there. During the summer, the sun never fully sets in the northern parts of the country, especially in Lapland. This creates a beautiful twilight that bathes the scenery in light. Take advantage of the endless sunshine and do things like hiking, fishing, or just enjoying the beauty of nature during the midnight sun. You can also enjoy the long days and Swedish traditions if you go during Midsommar, which means “middle of summer.”

Delight in Wild Berry Picking

As summer comes, Sweden’s forests turn into places where you can find lots of berries. Going into the woods to pick wild berry picking is an old practice that you should do. Wild strawberries, lingonberries, blueberries, and raspberries all have sweet and sour tastes that you should try. Berry picking. is a fun activity for the whole family and a chance to get close to nature and enjoy the pure taste of Sweden’s wild areas.

Lately, the berries have been coming up later than usual. They didn’t come until July this year because it has been colder for longer. We’ll see how things go next year! What I wrote about picking berries in Sweden is called Berry Picking in Sweden is the Efficient Way.

Wander the Majestic National Parks

There are 30 national parks in Sweden, and each one has its own special charm. Abisko National Park is known for its rough terrain and beautiful mountains. You can also see the northern lights there. Or, you could take a walk through Sarek National Park, which is a remote wilderness paradise with untouched scenery and lots of wildlife. Don’t forget to go to Djurgården, the green space in the middle of Stockholm that offers a peaceful escape with beautiful views. Even Tiveden National Park, which is my favorite so far, has lots of stories all over the park. Visit Swedish National Parks to find out more.

Journey Through the Nature Reserves

In Sweden, there are more than 5,000 wildlife parks. Sweden’s outdoors in these places are all different. If you want to see something beautiful, you can go to the Glaskogen nature reserve, which is my personal favorite. Because these are protected areas, you can only stay in the places that are marked. The same goes for public parks.

They have their website that you can visit to learn more about Sweden’s nature areas. You can find out why they are set aside and how much land they cover.

Seek Adventure in the Archipelago

The Swedish archipelagos have more than 30,000 islands that make you want to go on a canoeing journey. You can go kayaking through the calm water, take a boat excursion to see more than one island, or just relax on the beaches. The archipelago is a great place for people who love being outside because there are so many places to explore and rest.

Outside of Stockholm, on the High Coast, and in Gothenburg or a few other places in Sweden, there are archipelagos. You can find out more about the archipelagos in Sweden at Visit Sweden.

Experience Fika in the Wild

As part of the Swedish tradition of “fika,” people take a break with coffee and a sweet treat, like a cinnamon bun or a pastry. Bring the art of fika with you when you go outside. Find a quiet place, make coffee or tea over a campfire, and enjoy some tasty Swedish treats while taking in the beauty of nature.

A lot of Swedes love frikadeller. For them, it’s a way to spend time with loved ones over a hot drink and tasty snacks. This is a way to enjoy a piece of Swedish culture while you’re outside.

Stare in Awe at the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, are another amazing natural event that you can see when you go outside in Sweden. The best time to see this show is in the winter, when you can go to the most northern parts of the country, like Abisko National Park or Kiruna. You’ll be amazed by nature’s big show as the skies dance with bright shades of green, pink, and purple. Seeing the beautiful Northern Lights under a sky full of stars is an experience you will never forget. It will also make you feel more connected to Sweden’s natural beauty.

You might even be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights in Varmland. It has been seen in the sky at times. You just need to stay up late enough and hope the sky is clear. Find out more about The Best Places for the Northern Lights in Sweden.

Connect with Swedish Wildlife

The wild areas of Sweden are home to many kinds of animals, such as majestic moose, sneaky wolves, and graceful reindeer. As you discover the great outdoors, keep an eye out for these beautiful animals. Wildlife safaris and guided tours let you see animals in their natural environments and teach people how to connect with animals in a way that doesn’t harm them.

Moose are often seen moving around where I live in Varmland county. Not long ago, we also saw foxes! I think you should go to Varmland county if you want to see them. Or, if you go farther north, you might see reindeer in the wild. They’re not really wild, though, because the Sami people own them. They just let them go where they pleased.

Every moment in Sweden’s outdoors is a chance for excitement and wonder. This Nordic paradise is stunningly beautiful and peaceful, whether you’re hiking through old woods, enjoying wild berries, or having a relaxing soak in the midnight sun. Outside, you can enjoy the magic of Sweden and make experiences that will last a lifetime.
