Sweden outdoors offers a plethora of unforgettable experiences for adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike. From the breathtaking landscapes to the cultural wonders, exploring the outdoors in Sweden is a journey like no other. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed venturing out in nature on hikes, canoeing, or camping.

One of the most surreal experiences in Sweden is witnessing the midnight sun. In the northern parts of the country, particularly in Lapland, during the summer months, the sun never fully sets, creating a mesmerizing twilight that bathes the landscapes in a glow of sunlight. Embrace the endless daylight and enjoy activities like hiking, fishing, or simply basking in the beauty of nature under the enchanting midnight sun. Or, if you plan on visiting during Midsommar (midsummer), you can enjoy the long days while taking in the Swedish traditions.
As summer approaches, the forests of Sweden transform into berry havens. Venture into the wilderness and indulge in the age-old tradition of wild berry picking. Discover the sweet and tart flavors of wild strawberries, lingonberries, blueberries, and raspberries. There are over 5,000 nature reserves in Sweden. Sweden outdoors in these areas all vary. You can see the marshlands, mountains, or the lovely Glaskogen nature reserve, which is my favorite. Since these are protected areas, you only can camp in the designated places. That’s the same for national parks as well.

With over 30,000 islands, the Swedish archipelagos invite you to embrace the spirit of adventure. Fika is a Swedish tradition that involves taking a break with coffee and a delicious treat, like cinnamon buns or pastries. Embrace the art of fika during your outdoor adventures. Find a tranquil spot, brew a cup of coffee over a campfire (or tea), and indulge in delectable Swedish treats while surrounded by nature’s beauty.
Fika is something many swedes cherish. They see it as a way to bond with family and friends over a warm brew and yummy snacks. Enjoy a piece of the Swedish culture while you’re out in nature by doing this.

Sweden’s wilderness is home to a diverse range of wildlife, from majestic moose to elusive wolves and graceful reindeer. Where I live in Värmland county, it’s common to see moose out roaming. Lately, we’ve been seeing foxes as well! So, if you want to see them, I suggest venturing to Värmland county. Or, if you go further north, it’s common to see wild reindeer. Although technically they’re not wild since the Sami people own them. They just let them roam free.
